Fet Bondye Update from Alex Bouvier

First Day Reflections from Alex Bouvier.

Registration for Fet Bondye 2013
Today was the first day of the camp.  It was a new kind of experience, I had to resist the urge to try and control the situation and just let the chaos happen. Registration was the worst, kids were trying to sneak into the camp and there was a crowd of people outside the gate. Then as the camp started, things calmed down.

The language barrier was difficult to handle. There would be times where one of the kids would say something to me in creole then all laugh, I didn’t mind it though. It was encouraging to see how happy all the kids were to be at the camp and get fresh food and clean water. Overall it was a good first day and I look forward to the rest of the week!

You can view more pictures from throughout the week from the Haitian Timoun Foundation on Sheridan's Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/SheridanLutheran. Please continue to pray for all participants and staff leading this camp for the 300 Haitian children.

First Day Reflections from Pastor Rhonda Bostrom:
We had a great day today! We had 300 kids + Haitian and US counselors. We learned the Creation story. The camp kids were great! I'm real proud of our Sheridan Lutheran Church team. Everyone is working really hard to communicate friendship and God's love. It's great! Funny that we are hot with the temps, but don't even notice the sweat much anymore;).
